Admire one of the most impressive views of the Andean country with this day trip to Colca Canyon from Arequipa. You'll finish the tour in Puno, Peru's folklore capital, to continue exploring.

Day Trip Details

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Arequipa and after a 3-hour bus ride through southern Peru, we'll reach the town of Chivay. At more than 3000 meters (9800 feet) above sea level, we'll stop to enjoy a tasty breakfast of bread with butter and jam. You can also have juice and coffee or tea to start your day.

After breakfast, we'll visit the town of Yanque, and afterward, we'll head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. On the journey, you'll have the option to embark on a small hike. Once we reach the viewpoint, you can admire the Colca Canyon in all its splendor. Did you know it's one of the deepest canyons in the world? You'll also get to spot Andean condors, as this area is perfect for the flight of this bird species,

After the viewpoint, we'll continue our route by visiting other towns and viewpoints in Colca Valley, like Wayrapunko or Antahuillque. Then, we'll head to the Chacapi hot springs, where you can relax in its natural pools for 1 hour.

We'll continue our tour after this dip in the springs by heading to a restaurant where you'll enjoy typical dishes of the area and local products. Finally, we'll set off to Puno, our final destination.

During the journey, we'll stop to stretch our legs at the Patapampa viewpoint, from where you can admire the majesty of the Ampato and Sabancaya volcanoes. We'll also stop at the Salinas Reserve and Lagunillas, to see if we're lucky enough to get a close-up view of any of the herds of camelids or flocks of wild birds that inhabit these areas.

The day trip will end at the historic center of the city of Puno, where we'll conclude this activity after a total of 17 hours.

Hotel Pickup

This activity includes pickup at hotels within a 0.62-mile (1-kilometer) radius of the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. If you're staying outside this area, at the designated time, you'll need to make your way to the meeting point, the entrance of the Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa, located in the Plaza de Armas.
