Kanheri Caves Half-Day Trip
Early in the morning, an expert guide will pick you up from your hotel before driving to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, where the Buddhist caves of Kanheri are found. Located on the western fringes of Mumbai, this area is an astonishing oasis of lush, green vegetation.
We drive deeper into the forest until reaching the Kanheri caves, a network of more than 100 caves with wall paintings, engravings, and Buddhist sculptures that were made from the 1st century B.C. to the 10th century A.D.
This mystical place was used by Buddhist monks for meditation and as a place of worship. The caves were used as monasteries, meetings rooms, shrines, and study rooms. Our guide will tell us about their history and show us some of the most striking statues.
During the tour, you can enjoy a typical snack from the region. Our trip finishes with some unforgettable views over the Sanjay Gandhi National Park from a very special hiding place. Make the most of this golden opportunity to take the best photos of your trip to India!
Hotel Transfer
Due to the scale of Mumbai, the cost of the tour only includes transfers from hotels located within the centre of the city. Collection and drop off at hotels situated more than 10 km outside the city centre will be subject to an additional charge of 500 rupees (6 euro approx.).
