Secret caves, breathtaking waterfalls and crystal-clear water... Come and explore them all on our unmissable Los Tinajones River Trekking activity from Jamao al Norte.
Trekking Details
If you'd like to explore an extraordinary part of the Dominican Republic, we'll see you at the indicated time, at your hotel in the selected pickup area. From there, we'll take a minibus to the Los Tinajones trail. Halfway through our journey, we'll make a stop to meet Mrs. Marcela, a rodao (a kind of biscuit) expert, to learn about how she makes her famous rodaos.
Once we've arrived at the starting point of our river trekking route, we'll put on our equipment and learn the basics of the activity. Afterwards, we'll venture into the forest and see the tinaja vase shaped pools and the flora endemic to this area.
We'll take a break, surrounded by nature, at around 11:30 am for a snack of cheese, rodaos and a refreshing drink. After this tasty snack, we'll continue walking through caves and waterfalls and, if you're feeling daring, jumping from the rocks into the water.
Later on, we'll go to the local community of Nuestra Señora del Carmen to have a traditional lunch of delicious beans, rice, chicken and more.
It'll then be time to return to the starting point, where we'll arrive between 5.5 to 10 hours later.
