We'll pick you up from your hotel in Baracoa at the designated time to venture into the protected natural area surrounding the Yumurí River, onboard an off-roading vehicle. Let's go!
Throughout the journey, we'll immerse ourselves in the tropical forest and this region's lush vegetation. We'll pass by coffee, taro, sweet potato, and yam fields along the way. Throughout the trip, we’ll share plenty of fascinating facts about local life and soil conservation for farming.
Once we reach Yumurí, we'll go on a boat trip, where you'll get amazing views of the tall canyon walls. We'll see how these surroundings reach up to 200 metres (656 feet) on either side of the river right down to the mouth of the river into the Atlantic Ocean. Can you guess why the Indigenous community called the river Yumurí? Find out on this trip!
We'll cross the river, sailing down its only navigable section, which is just 300 metres (984 feet) long. And the best part? You'll be able to take a refreshing dip in one of the natural pools that form along the river.
Afterwards, we'll make our way to the Punta de Maisí, which marks the easternmost point in Cuba. Here, we'll spot the iconic lighthouse, also known as "La Concha" by locals. Did you know that on clear days, from its highest point, you can sometimes see Haiti?
After this sightseeing tour of Maisí, we'll enjoy a typical Cuban lunch in the hotel Faro de Maisí.
After a total of 8 hours, we'll then say our goodbyes at your hotel in Baracoa.
