Ever heard of the Villa Blanca of Cuba? Discover its charm on this trip to Gibara, one of the most beautiful cities in the eastern part of the Caribbean island.
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Holguín in a classic car. On board this vintage vehicle, we'll drive north to the coastal town of Gibara, also known as the Villa Blanca, or White Village, of Cuba.
Upon arrival, we'll enjoy a welcome cocktail in a central location of the city. Afterwards, we'll take a walking tour through the old town of Gibara. Our first stop will be the Fernando VII Battery Fort, which was built in the 19th century by Spanish militants to defend the municipality from pirate attacks. While we contemplate this imposing building, we'll also have exceptional views of the Gibara Bay.
We'll continue our tour to the Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by colonial-era buildings. Nearby is the Natural History Museum, where we'll see different exhibitions related to the world of biology, including the skeletons of a sperm whale and a pilot whale!
Afterwards, we'll walk to the Gibara viewpoint to get a glimpse of the beautiful contrast of its cobbled streets with the Atlantic. Then, we'll go to a restaurant in the old town to refuel with a local lunch where you'll have the choice between seafood, fish, chicken, pork or beef.
After eating, we'll visit the Panaderos Cave, belonging to the cave system of the Polja del Cementerio. In this cave full of stalactites and stalagmites we'll be able to see the names of the bakers who frequented it. The origin of the visits of this guild is still unknown—it's a real enigma!
Finally, we'll say goodbye to Gibara and take you to your hotel in Holguín, where we'll bring our tour to an end after 5 hours.
