Fall in love with India's deepest shade of blue on this guided tour of Jodhpur! You'll weave through the streets of the second-largest city in Rajasthan state and visit its top attractions.
Description
Meet us at Ghanta Ghar and we'll kick off our guided tour of Jodhpur. Let's discover what makes the second-largest city in Rajasthan state so special!
Next to the watchtower, right in the heart of Jodhpur, we'll delve into the storied past of Maharaja Sir Sardar Singh who commissioned the structure to be built 200 years ago. Now affectionately known as the Rajasthan Tower, this significant monument was recognized as the beginning of Old Jodhpur in the city. From the top of the watchtower are also some of the best panoramic views of the city.
Our next stop will bring us to Toorji Ka Jhalra stepwell, constructed in the 1740s by the Maharaja Abhaya Singh. Submerged for almost a century, its recent uncovering has revealed a beautiful hand carving in pink-red sandstone from Jodhpur. Here we can appreciate many different carvings, depicting dancing elephants and niches housing ancestral deities.
Leaving the stepwell behind, we'll head over to the Blue City to wander along the narrow streets and enjoy the typical houses and market known as Navchowkiya. This vibrant blue hue is bound to captivate you! As we pass by the market, we'll duck to walk through the different stalls and booths, the perfect opportunity to find the most beautiful souvenirs.
As we come to the last leg of the tour, we'll arrive at Pachetia Hill to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The vibrant blue is at its best during the glowing sunrise and sunset providing a beautiful contrast against the golden sun. We'll also visit the Kunj Bihari Temple, dedicated to Shri Kunj Bihari, more commonly known as Lord Krishna. We'll take advantage of this moment to share with you the significance of this building and all the curiosities it houses.
After 3 hours, we'll bring our guided tour of Jodhpur to an end, near to where we began.
