We'll begin our private day trip at the designated time by picking you up from your accommodation in Khajuraho. From here, we'll begin our journey towards the Orchha Fort Complex. Ready? Say no more!
Once we arrive, the first place we'll visit will be Jahangiri Mahal, an impressive fort built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century. Next, we'll go to the Raja Mahal, a palace built by Madhukar Shah, the predecessor to Bir Singh Ju Deo. This spot will surprise you with its simple exterior decorated with chhatri that gives way to a richly decorated interior, full of walls painted brightly with religious themes.
Afterwards, we'll make our way to the Praveen Rai Mahal, built in honour of the poet and musician Praveen Rai. This building, surrounded by the beautiful gardens of Anand Mahal, is notable for its carved niches that allow natural light to enter. Our next stop will be the Ram Raja Temple, known for its legend and towering spires.
After this, we'll head over to the Laxmi Narayana Temple, which combines the features of a fortress and a temple, Inside, we'll admire some of the most impressive murals on the site. You'll love it!
To conclude our visit, we'll make our way to a Phool Bagh, a garden designed with a central line of fountains that culminates in an 8-pillared palace pavilion. In this spot, we'll descend into the underground structure that served as a summer refuge for the Orchha kings.
